A journey shaped by curiosity, resilience, and the drive to build.
I’m Edson Cortes — entrepreneur, self-taught programmer, fleet innovator, and artist at heart.
I grew up in a single-parent household in Los Angeles. From an early age, I recognized patterns in my environment and made the conscious decision to pursue a different path. My creative background in art helped me see the world through an abstract lens — and that mindset carried over into every part of my professional life.
In 2016 and 2017, I became deeply immersed in the world of tech. I taught myself how to code — using Ruby on Rails, Codecademy, and any resources I could get my hands on. On my lunch breaks, I’d walk into Best Buy in San Francisco and use their display laptops to practice coding. I froze during my first interview with a CodeCamp instructor, and that moment taught me something valuable: I needed more practice, more reps — and I wasn’t afraid to put in the work.
Between 2017 and 2020, I dove into every opportunity I could. I attended countless tech expos in San Francisco and throughout the South Bay. I participated in overnight Amazon code sprints in Oakland, connected with early-stage startups, and worked on real-world projects — including helping Slack transition from their small space to the former Gymboree headquarters on Mission Street.
My ability to code became more than just a technical skill — it became a language that allowed me to connect with other entrepreneurs, translate ideas into working systems, and troubleshoot with clarity. It taught me problem-solving, logical thinking, and creativity under pressure.
These skills shaped the ventures I would go on to build — from CarsNow and TiresNow to mobile repair networks and high-efficiency fleet centers. Today, I continue to grow companies that improve mobility, streamline logistics, and empower service-based businesses with better tools.
My goal is simple: to keep building things that move people forward.
